Who am I and what am I doing here?

Hi, my name is TJ and this is my newsletter. I update once a week with my stories about parenting, fatherhood, cheap plastic chairs, what makes me laugh, sometimes what makes me cry, or some crazy stunt my dad made me do when I was a kid.

I’ll also write about a 4 month road trip that my wife, Megan, and I took our 2 daughters on from March 2021 to July 2021. We hit 10 states, 8 national parks, drove 9,399 miles, and watched our 3 year old pee on the side of the road about 35 times. The trip generated so many stories that I’m documenting on my website here. I’ll share tips on traveling that long with kids, where we went, what to avoid, what not to avoid, etc. It’s good stuff. I promise.

When I’m not writing about the dumb shit my dad did or the weird museums I took my kids to, I run a small software company focused on providing data analytics for impact and global health related organizations. This job has taken me to 30 countries, 4 continents, and one really awkward fishing trip into the Indian Ocean.

One time a friend described my newsletter as a collection of "dad unwisdom" and that was honestly the most accurate thing anyone has ever said to me. Follow along as I tell stories of fatherhood, parenting, or whatever else comes to mind.

Telling stories about #dadlife, road trips, peeing on the side of the road (my kid, not me), how we survived 4 months in airbnbs with two kids under 5, and what it was like growing up in a house with 5 boys. I write twice a week.
